Material master creation, classification and enrichment
Every material in the ERP starts as a request, and the quality of that request decides how well the material can be found, planned, bought and maintained for the rest of its life.
The challenge
In most mines, new materials are created from free-text requests with inconsistent naming, missing manufacturer details and abbreviations only the requestor understands. The same part is created twice under different descriptions, and the technical information that does exist sits in datasheets, OEM manuals and emails outside the ERP.
ERP material masters are also limited by design. A short description and a few fixed fields cannot hold dimensions, materials, ratings, standards, compatible equipment and approved alternatives.

Create and classify
Material requests move through defined stages, from draft and request through taxonomy development and approval to creation in the ERP. Incomplete requests are flagged with a list of what is missing. Each material is classified against a UNSPSC-based taxonomy covering more than 7,900 commodity classes, with a mining scope of more than 600 classes and curated templates for key categories such as filters, gaskets, hoses, seals, O-rings, bearings, belts and oils.
Research and develop
StoXeo researches each material by manufacturer and part number, starting with manufacturer reference sources, and fills the attributes its taxonomy requires. Datasheets and manuals, including scanned documents, become searchable text.
Standard descriptions
Short, long and natural-language descriptions are generated from the classified attributes using your description rules and preferred units, for example 82C (180F). Descriptions can also be produced in Spanish, German and French.
Extended properties
Beyond the ERP fields, StoXeo keeps the full set of taxonomy attributes, product links, documents, images, supersessions and alternatives for each material.
People stay in control
Every value carries a confidence score, and low-confidence or missing values are highlighted for review. Values confirmed by people are frozen so automation cannot change them, and every status change and automated step is logged.
Taxonomies that grow
When research finds a property a taxonomy does not hold, it is checked against existing attributes by name and meaning before being added, so the structure grows without duplication.
